bought this stand as a replacement for a similar model (which has provided me with many years of service). easy to put together and was very sturdy. I have to admit that we had a small tree this year but I think it would handle a much bigger tree without problems. the only problem I have with this kind of support is that the bottom of the shaft must be chamfered to sit correctly at the bottom of the stand. with larger trees can be a bit of a pain to get it cut down on the right
